"who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom". James3:13
A wise man lives each day of his life with a purpose. The Bible tells us if our faith is as small as a mustard seed, we can move mountains, so a wise man's faith must be enormous. He is a leader to some and a helper to many. He does for others before he does for himself because he knows God has his back. I knew a wise man who got up on Sunday morning to unlock the church doors because he knew God had a message that needed to be heard. This wise man worked not one but a few jobs for his family and anyone else who was in need. He would use his own family to cheer on others whose families may not have attended. He shared all that he had, even if it meant driving for hours to create memories with good friends. He was proud of his alumni whom he shared with many. This wise man was my daddy. He lived his life with a purpose and was a disciple of God. He faithfully lived this way for many years in pain, yet never chose to give up. I am grateful that I got the opportunity to thank him. His physical body may not be here but his spirit lives on. My dad loved his family and had many talks with me about this day. He would say"Girl now when I'm gone you make sure you take care of your mommy and Kiesha When I'm gone" and I will.
I am glad I got a chance to call Howard C. Burks, my daddy
He was a wise man who lived with a purpose.
He may be gone from here but he is not alone. He has been welcomed into the arms of his parents, siblings, grandpa, and grandma Odom, and many of his good friends
Love you, my Wise man,
Your daughter Angela.
