I just learn about Juneteenth a few years ago. It wasn't taught in school. I was introduced to it through cable news and social media. It has recently become a federal holiday.so I wanted to celebrate by participating in my community's Juneteenth celebration. Which was beautiful. It was a family affair filled with art. There was live music, spoken word. canvas painting. Food trucks and vendors. The weather was nice. It was a positive vibe filled with love. I also patronize a Black-owned business.
I'm not sure how Juneteenth should be celebrated. But I'm glad that I was in my community and surrounded by art and culture.
